Happy New Year

It was a very successful new year’s eve. I have been sticking with my belief that as long as you are surrounded by good friends in good cheer you will have a good time. Jemma, Marc, Shane, and I went to the Hotel Sask where we had a room rented. We had intentions of going to a show at O’Hanlons across the street but that proved to be impossible after seeing the long line up and the line up to get into the line up. Instead we spent some time in the lobby with other people obviously disappointed in missing Despistado “last” show (some are hoping it is not true). The other time we spent playing trivial pursuit and well, I was laughing my arse off because I was with the most insanely funny people.

I woke up at 10am with the hangover from hell. Ugh. I was surprised at my ability to put down solids at brunch later. It makes me think – wow, what a great way to start the year. But then I remember the first 5 hours of 2005 (before going to sleep) and I try to use that as a representation for the luck, hope, and cheer that will carry over into the next year. It can’t be done without resolutions but I think I have some of those this year. Usually I don’t, I usually make so many resolutions everyday that the roll over of 12.31.xxxx to 01.01.xxxx+1 makes no difference to me. But I’m starting to realize the importance of marking your years, or classifying them by deciding what you will try to make of them before hand. I look back to the 23 years I have under my belt now and some of them melt together, some I cannot remember. So why not remember them as the year that I decided to stick to the pilates and realize that peanut butter sandwiches are not supper.

I’m about to crash for my first nap of the year. This will hopefully not be followed by too many more.
