not according to plan

Damn. So I spent a bunch of time putting together photos so far and making descriptions and burning it all to a cd so that I could upload them to flickr at this Internet cafe. I came here, upgraded my flickr account to pro, stuck my cd in and…damn, silly me burned a disk image containing the pictures onto the cd…not readable by Windows. Now I am all discouraged.
Eventually I will get them up. For now – the gist of what I`ve been doing:
- settling into apartment, incrementally buying blankets and I think I am finally warm enough
- getting acquainted with the train system…it`s fun!
- visited NTT on Thursday
- went to Kamakura on Friday
- went to Tokyo yesterday
- today is final day of relaxing / settling in before work starts.
I tried to get a mobile phone today, and a bank account on Friday, but I cannot do any of those until I get my Certificate of Alien Registration from city hall which will be April 6th. Until then I spend hours and hours looking over mobile phone catalogues to figure out what I want. Really, it will all just boil down to colour : P
My time is almost up and I`m hungry so I`ll post pictures in a few days!

Sounds like you got around quite a bit already in your first days. Looking forward to seeing your photos.
I would definitely recommend getting an orange cell phone. I hear those are the best.
Have a nice Sunday and a good start at work.

I subscribe to vodaphone, and it’s quite good. I hear they are being bought out however, which may change things…. Yuki has DOCOMO which is also very cool; they have some really cool new models out that have all the bells and whistles. AU has some new models as well which are very cool; Last night at dinner I saw this new AU phone which has hidden LCD’s under the top panel. There is like 150 different patterns for the LCD’S which activate every time you close your phone. It’s super cool!
Glad to hear Japan is lots of fun so far!

Yeah, but at least nobody strapped meat to your forehead and sent out a ravenous lizard to chase you around a film studio. I hear they do that there.

Hehe…I saw that too. It`s funny because while I was watching it, I was thinking “oh yeah, I could handle that lizard”. But really…could I?
As for the cellphone, I think I will be going with AU. They supposedly have the best coverage in my area. I will show some pictures of my phone once I get it, which should be this weekend.
