Long ago I started naming my devices after famous fictional computers and robots. Currently I have:

Desktop: Deepthought
Server: HAL
iBook: R2-D2
Wireless SSID: Skynet

My former desktop (now retired) was named WOPR. Sadly, it never asked me if I’d like to play a nice game of chess.

I think I’m going to go with a Wonderland theme once the current lot are gradually replaced. New boxes will be named “CheshireCat”, “MockTurtle”, “QueenOfHearts”, “Dormouse”, etc.

Eric – that`s the most hilarious, yet equally disturbing little anecdote. We should pool our devices together and then invite the relatives over on Sunday.

Yeah, I started naming my devices after Thanksgiving dinner courses — Pumpkin Pie, Gristle & Bone, Mashed Potatos, and my external hard drive, Warm Gravy.

Of course, now when I go to disconnect it, I have to click on “Eject Warm Gravy”. Which is either disgusting or delicious. (Depending on how hungry I am.)

LOL, meg thats an excellent name. In the future you can just ask people to “call you on the juice”. BTW, i havent met syrup yet.. what is it? I guess i could make a search on your blog….
