I cannot believe that I didn’t hear about this 2 months ago! AGFRAG Entertainment Group (that name doesn’t sit well on my tongue) bought the rights to a Bob Ross video game which they will develop for the Nintendo Wii. Can’t express how joyful that makes me. Did anyone catch my stupid grin during lunch time.
I was going to include a picture with this post because posts need pictures especially when they are about Bob Ross. But, when I went to the Bob Ross website and did a right-click on his face, I received a pop-up:
Reminder! The contents of this website are Bob Ross Inc. copyrighted. Downloading or reproduction of any part is strictly prohibited by law.
…and to pay respect to Bob Ross, I passed on getting the picture…even though…is linking to a picture online violating copyright laws? Writing this though, it occured to me that Bob Ross would probably want people to copy those pictures. I mean…isn’t that what his whole career was about?
woopii! bob on wii!

That’s funny. I mean what are people going to do, take Bob’s pictures and pass them off as their own? The whole appeal is that they are done by the man in the ‘fro.
The more I hear about the Wii and it’s games, the cooler it sounds. I like that they’re trying to make something fun for the casual gamer, rather than trying to appeal to the hardcore gamer market.

Yes that is a very good point about it. When I first heard about the Wii, I did the “oh but it is not going to be that good” thing to fend off the “I need it” urges, but the more and more I read about it the harder it is to suppress those urges.
One thing I wonder though…how will I (emphasis on I) enjoy a video game that might require more…mmm…physical interaction. I didn’t totally get the appeal of dance dance revolution or guitar hero. This is partly because I have not tried them but also because I like the gentle coma state with movement restricted to fingers and eyes that you can achieve with traditional video games. It is very meditative for me. From my understanding, the Wii controller requires you to move your arm…? I don’t know…
Hahaha.

Seriously the idea of painting on Wii is pretty cool except… well, shouldn’t people be using an actual paintbrush on whatever? Like, do we really need to digitize that?? I might be blown away with whatever comes to pass, but right now I’m a little sceptical. (i think i spelt that wrong) Besides, who the hell wants to paint like Bob Ross anyways?? That guy is the guru of all value village velvet artworks. I think this may have the effect of people hating art more than most already do.
(Bob Ross’ hair really does give him the liberty to do whatever the fuck he wants though…)

Yeah…I can’t totally argue with you cause like, I don’t want to paint like Bob Ross and I am not a trained artist but…
…there is something special about what he did. Not so much because of the finished project but because of the way he made me conceptualize paint strokes and colour. I used to watch his show and it would absolutely calm my mind. I never actually tried painting in his style…but I just liked watching the images form on his canvas.
Then again, I also liked watching the images drawn during Cable Regina storytime. Do you remember that? I was something like, between 7 and 8 am they would have illustrated stories for children on channel 7 or 3 or whatever. The illustrations would be painted on the screen bit by bit (was that on purpose or a limitation of technology)…and then you would get a bit of text which would stay up forever until finally a little blinking square would alert the slow readers that it was almost time to “turn the page”? They often had Mr. Men stories. I was obsessed with that! I watched those pictures refreshing like I watched Bob Ross paint!
